Do you remember the horse armor from Oblivion?

How about the idea of paid Skyrim mods?

Bethesda got a lot of backlash for both of these. The former being a ridiculous money grab and the latter, well, being a ridiculous money grab.

Bethesda has launched the ‘Creation Club’, a hub for mods for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition. What’s the catch? It’s DLC. Paid DLC. How anyone at Bethesda thought this would be a good idea, I’ve no idea. There are already sites and software in circulation that allow you to do the same thing that creation club does, for free. The largest being Nexus Mod Manager and their mod collection. The Creation Club FAQ states that mods are not and will not require money. It’s true, you don’t pay with a legitimate currency for the mods. You pay for credits. Then you use the credits you paid for to get mods. Makes total sense. Bethesda states that Creation Club items are not mods, rather mini DLC.

There’s no sense in spending $3 for horse armor when you can head over to Nexus and install meaningful mods for free. All in all it’s not that you have to buy the mini DLC to use it. I wouldn’t use anything on the Creation Club if it was offered to me for free. Bethesda can’t simply think that this is okay. People are being taken advantage of for no reason other than greed.
